I have a cousin who is planning to buy an HDTV, and knowing how obsessed I am with it, he asked me for tips. But all I could say is that he'd know when he'd see it. And some technical things. But how would you answer the question?

I think you'd do well with educating your cousin about the technical specs. Like what LCD is and how different it is from plasma... etc.

I have one tip for that... Do not think that bigger is better. I know of one couple who bought a 65-inch HDTV only to have it returned a few days later because it doesn't have space for their house. The TV they bought was just too big to do any comfortable viewing for any length of time. So you have to know what size TV would be best for you.

| Well, you should take into consideration the size of your room, and just how far you're going to be sitting from the TV. If it is less than eight feet, then the biggest you should buy is a 46-inch. This would make sure that you don't get overwhelmed...

You should also take into consideration the height of your ceiling. The higher it is, the bigger your HDTV could be.

Haggle!!! People think that just because they buy it inside malls they can't negotiate for a better price. The fact is, you should always try to negotiate for a better price. That way you can get the best value. Never ever pay for the price indicated in the price tag

Well, that is a good tip, but some people haggle too much. Just get a 5% to 15% discount, and you should be happy. Check also if the TV you want is on sale or not. That will give you an idea. If it is on sale, chances are you won't be able to bring down the price too much.
