HDTV to become available on Mobiles Thanks to Nvidia Tegra Phone Nvidia are going all out this year to ensure that they are top of the market. Blowing away consumers with 3D-capable devcies at Computex last month but they are not stopping there. They are also about to move their smartphone prototype to a fully fledged smartphone called Nvidia Tegra Phones. NVIDIA’s Tegra platform promises to bring high speed, HD quality graphics to smartphones and can offer big savings on power usage too. After impressing us with a host of 3D-capable devcies at Computex last month, we have been waiting for news of a proper NVIDIA Tegra smartphone and now NVIDIA’s Mike Rayfield has revealed that one of the ‘big five’ manufacturers will be releasing the first Tegra phone in Q4 this year. NVIDIA have produced the Tegra chipset that can pump out high quality graphics but only use a small amount of power, offering a battery that can last several days. Specs of the new phone are uncertain, of course, but rumours suggest 720p video with 3D acceleration and the likely inclusion of an HDMI port for HD output to a telly or monitor. NVIDIA’s Peter Ha has revealed that the phone will be making its way to T-Mobile (and AT&T in the US) at around $199. However, the manufacturer is still unknown. |
